Advisory Meeting: At Clark Street Community School, each student is paired with an advisor and an advisory group. Advisors are educators at CSCS and the advisory group contains no more than 15 CSCS students. Advisory allows each student a touchstone adult and group of peers within the building to start their day with throughout their time at CSCS. Additionally, each student's advisor is their "point person" for their PLP, academic progress, and parent/guardian contact at school.
Seminar: Seminars at Clark Street Community School are student, staff, or community member driven learning opportunities. CSCS seminars are all interdisciplinary. Some seminars include independent projects and some seminars work as a whole group to accomplish a project.
Project Lab: Project Lab allows students to work on and complete independent or small group projects. Project Labs work as a community of learners as each student accomplishes his/her project of personal interest or need.
Independent Study: Independent Study is a quiet, supervised work space for students to work on independent projects, seminar work, MHS coursework or online courses. Students who take an MHS class will have Independent Study scheduled at CSCS opposite their MHS class.
MHS Classes: Students at CSCS can take up to two classes at MHS each semester. Students are encouraged to only take MHS classes that they are extremely passionate about as this limits what they can do at CSCS. All requirements for graduation can be met at CSCS.
Lunch: Students at CSCS can bring their own lunch, purchase a sack lunch from the vending machine, purchase lunch from MHS food services or go out for lunch.
Release/Quiet Study: CSCS students have release opportunities each Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Students who wish to stay at CSCS can work in a supervised quiet study space.
Friday Groups, Workshops, Clubs & Field Trips: Friday at CSCS is a day reserved for out of school field work and non-seminar or project lab learning opportunities. Students, staff and community members form groups around interests, needs and activities which meet on this day.
